Floor Types

Hardwood

Hardwood floor is made of solid, broadleaf wood, usually oak, cherry, walnut, maple, etc. This type of floor is very common in NYC as well as in the rest part of the world. Hardwood floor looks really nice in brownstone and townhouse building apartments; however this type of floor is widely used in all types of buildings and apartments in NYC area.

Linoleum

Linoleum is made from wood filler, ground cork, pigment, together with a solidifying binder and backed with felt. The final product may come in sheet or tile; both are often seen in New York City apartments. Although linoleum floor is cheap, it often looks far more valuable than it actual cost. In many cases linoleum can be covered with images to add attractiveness to the interior, and above all, it is very easy to clean.

Carpet

Soft synthetic or natural fiber floor covering, not the easiest one to clean, but, compared to the charm and comfort that it adds to the apartment, its worth of it. Carpets come in various colors and textiles which makes it difficult to find two of the same kind in Manhattan, thus granting apartment dweller individuality and uniqueness.

Tile

Tile is a small (although the size may vary), manufactured piece of hard-wearing material made of clay or stone. Colors and shapes of the tiles differ from house to house, mostly tiles are used in bathrooms and kitchens, however creative designers wisely use it to decorate the apartment. Almost all apartments in NYC have at least one room covered with a tile floor.
